Oscar de la Renta to make appearance in SouthPark

SouthPark -  Renowned fashion designer Oscar de la Renta will make a special appearance at Belk SouthPark in conjunction with the launch of his brand’s modernized signature fragrance, Esprit d’Oscar, at a private, invitation-only breakfast on Saturday, April 30 at 8:30 a.m..

Mr. de la Renta will be joined by Alex Bolen, CEO of Oscar de la Renta, LLC, who will also be speaking, and Kathryn Bufano, President and Chief Merchandising Officer at Belk, Inc., who will welcome the invitees on behalf of Belk.

The breakfast will take place at the second floor entrance near Belk's cosmetic and fragrance department in SouthPark Mall.

South End flea market debuts April 30

SOUTH END - The South End Super Flea, a new flea market in Historic South End, will operate on Saturday, April 30th as part of the South End Soul events.

Coordinators will consider this a “pilot” flea with the plan to operate on a regular schedule, but for now it is set for Saturday only.

The Flea will be set up on vacant lot at the corner of Camden Road and Park Avenue across from Phat Burrito from 10am to 4pm.

The Mint Museum Auxiliary brings Oscar de la Renta to Charlotte for "The Art of Style"

CHARLOTTE - The Mint Museum Auxiliary is honored to host legendary style icon Oscar de la Renta as part of the organization's annual Room to Bloom fundraiser slated for April 27th - 29th, according to Hillary Cooper, president of the Mint Museum Auxiliary.  Mr. de la Renta will present his Fall 2011 collection as part of the "The Art of Style," an evening fashion show and special gala at the Mint Museum Uptown.  In addition, Miles Redd, creative director of Oscar de la Renta Home and recently named to Elle Decor's Top 25 A-List Designers for 2010, will be the featured speaker at the annual Room to Bloom symposium.

A Celebration of the Fashion and Giving Back

CENTER CITY - The Symphony Guild of Charlotte celebrated their 13th annual fashion show at The Atrium in uptown Charlotte Friday night.  The venue was decked out for an evening of fashion, food and a big honor for a lovely giving lady.

Every year the Symphony Guild honors an outstanding volunteer who supports the arts in Charlotte with the Marie R. Rowe Award.  This year's recipient was Jeanne Martin Brayboy who was recognized for tireless efforts to help the organization.

SOUTH PARK - Neiman Marcus celebrated spring style with a new twist on the spring Fashion Rules Party! The event was packed! Hundreds flocked for a glimpse of the beautiful trends for the upcoming season! They also enjoyed a special appearance by designer Cookie Johnson, wife of Magic Johnson. She premiered some of her spring collection and took time to speak personally with many of the lovely ladies attending.

Jane Seymour art exhibit at South Park Mall

SOUTH PARK - Actress, artist and jewelry designer Jane Seymour is in Charlotte, hosting an art gallery.

The gallery hosted at the Wentworth Gallery in the South Park Mall is open to the public, for free, today and Saturday.

Friday and Saturday there are "Meet the Artist" hours, where you can meet with Seymour.  Friday she is available from 7pm to 9pm and on Saturday from 6pm to 9pm.
